Base 10 Blocks for Making Numbers (Place Value Chart)

Instructions:

  • Drag and drop as many Base 10 blocks into the correct columns to make a number. Model regrouping when you have too many of any blocks. Drag and drop the digits into the bottom row of the table to show the number in standard form. Clicking the eraser wipes the whole board clean.

Suggested Lessons or Activities:

  • Use this resource along with other Base 10 resources (see links below) to study Place Value. When adding large number of blocks, consider using groups of five (5, 50, 500). It is also a very useful number concept to visualize numbers in this way (e.g., since 8=5+3 and 7=5+2, 8+7=(5+5)+(3+2) = 10+5=15 ).
