Sketchup for Learning 3D Geometry

K-12 educators and students from all over the world use SketchUp to explore, explain and present their ideas using 3D models. http://www.sketchup.com/3Dfor/k12-education
It is a phenomenal tool for understanding 3D geometry. Students can easily make 3D models and environments in SketchUp.

You need to install the SketchUp STL extension to be able to Import and Export STL files for 3D printing. After making your model in Sketchup. you can open them in a slicer such as Cura before you send them to the printer. If you don't have a 3D printer, you can send your file (.stl or .thing) to your public library or a commercial place with 3D printing services. Your slicer will provide you with Material Use and Print Time. This will affect how much your model will cost you to print.
Here is what Aurora Public Library charges for 3D Printing: "Please indicate the time required to build your model using the Makerware software. The maximum print time is 6 hours. Cost of printing is $1 plus $0.03 per minute. (+HST)"
